Being at the forefront of innovation and excellence, the Firm is proud to announce that we have launched our very own AzmiLaw Academy (â€śAcademyâ€ť).
The Academy is situated at Level 4, Menara Keck Seng, 203, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. The Academyâ€™s main facility is to serve as a seminar and training room, which could comfortably accommodate 35 guests.
Apart from hosting various seminars and trainings, the Academy is designed for meetings, lectures, discussions and other celebrative events.
The Academy is well equipped with mobile furnishing and facilities such as projector, portable speaker with wireless microphone, whiteboard, flip chart, and also internet services.
On 3rd December 2015, our Senior Partner, Datoâ€™ Azmi Mohd Ali was invited by the Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to witness the launching of a new association known as Faculty of Economics and Management Student Association (FEMSA). At the same ceremony, two new clubs were also officiated namely the Universiti Putra Malaysia Economics Club (UPMEC) and Business Putra Administration Club.
Datoâ€™ Azmi was also invited to have a sharing session with the students. The session, which was the highlight of the event, was moderated by Mr. Kaviyarasu A/L Elangkovan, the Head of the Facultyâ€™s Leadership Series. When asked about the most important decision that Datoâ€™ Azmi is required to make on a day to day basis as a leader, our Senior Partner said, â€śIt is to inspire and encourage people to excel and become a better professional in their career.â€ť
Our Senior Partner also shared a few must-read inspirational books such as Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space, Make Competition Irrelevant by Renee Mauborgne & W. Chan Kim and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
The Firm continues to strengthen its impressive global relationship with other international law firms. Recently, from 19 - 21 November 2015, our Managing Partner, Ahmad Lutfi Abdull Mutalip attended Taylor Wessingâ€™s International Partner Conference in Berlin. The Firm was invited on the pre-text that it is a member of a regional legal network, ASEAN Plus Group.
Taylor Wessing LLP is an international law firm with over 400 partners and 1000 lawyers around the globe. The firm, which has 26 offices in most of the major cities around the world and covers most of the law practice areas, is also a member of The Interlex Group, The United Law Offices and the World Law Group. The firm was formed in 2002 as a result of a merger of the British law firm of Taylor Johnson Garett and a German law firm of Wessing & Berenberg-Gossler.
The theme of the conference was â€śOur Relationships; With Clients, With Each Other and With the Teams That Support Us.â€ť Taylor Wessing selected this special theme because in the challenging global environment, these personal relationships are the ones that will help the firms to succeed.
Azmi & Associates participated in The 1 ASEAN Entrepreneurship Summit (1 AES) 2015 which was held on 16th â€“ 22nd November 2015. 1 AES was a weeklong celebration of entrepreneurship, packed with inspiring speakers, skill-building programmes and a plethora of exciting opportunities for ASEAN entrepreneurs.
The Firm being one of the official ASEAN Centre of Entrepreneurship (ACE) of MAGIC shared services partners participated in the 1 AES. The other law firms who were involved in 1 AES were Zaid Ibrahim & Co, Jeff Leong, Poon & Wong, Peter Ling & Van Geyzel and Fareez Shah & Partners. Our Firm lead by Puan Zurina Sabarudin, together with her team has set up a booth at the summit. We had the opportunity to meet many young and vibrant entrepreneurs from different countries and explained how the firm can provide services for their start-up businesses.
Our Senior Partner, Datoâ€™ Azmi Mohd Ali attended the First Law Internationalâ€™s FLI NET 2015 Fall Semi-annual Conference which was held in Manila, Philippines, on 12 â€“ 13 November 2015.
The event was organized by the First Law International, the Brusselsbased hub of a global network of over 75 independent, national law firms of which Azmi & Associates is a member of. The two-day event was hosted by SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, the leading law firm in Philippines founded in 1945. This event was attended by 28 lawyers representing 15 law firms around the region and number of prominent FLI NET global clients as well as by FLI NET Asian Partners.
The conference featured a number of speakers deliberating on multiple of issues including the aftermath and the changes brought by the ASEAN Integration, the future of legal profession, and the challenges and opportunities lies ahead for law firm. The issue of the competition that lawyers and law firms are facing from other professionals was also highlighted at the conference.
Azmi & Associates has once again participated in the TerraLexâ€™s Global Meeting (â€śGlobal Meetingâ€ť) which was held in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, from November 11 - 14, 2015. The meeting was hosted by Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. Azmi & Associates is the sole law firm from Malaysia in the TerraLex network, one of the worldâ€™s leading international legal networks with more than 17,000 attorneys in more than 100 countries worldwide. The firm was represented by our Managing Partner, Ahmad Lutfi Abdull Mutalip in the Global Meeting.
The Global Meeting was aimed to bring together all TerraLex members worldwide to discuss on, among others, challenges faced by the coalition, updates on any development that may concern the members and re-strategize approach so that the benefit of the coalition can be optimized accordingly. The Global Meeting was filled with series of informative forum, practice group sessions in addition to general sessions attended by all delegates.
At the fifth Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards, Azmi & Associates was named to have the Best Gender Diversity Initiative by a National Firm (Malaysia).
The ceremony which was held on the 11th of November 2015, had gathered female lawyers across Asia to celebrate the advancement of women in the legal profession.
The awards recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in the legal profession, as well as those law firms, which set the standard for female-friendly working practices across the region.
Azmi & Associates has always maintained an international outlook and presence with our strong network of contacts within the international law firms. To strengthen our capability to act outside Malaysia, our Senior Partner Datoâ€™ Azmi Mohd Ali had welcomed two foreign lawyers to Azmi & Associates recently.
Azmi & Associates has recently commemorated its 15th anniversary in Marina Putrajaya on 16th October 2015. Themed â€śAround The World In One Nightâ€ť, members of the Firm dressed up in vibrant attires such as kurtas, sarees, baju melayu, baju kurung, kimonos, dresses and cowboy costumes.
The evening began with a fun cruise ride around the serene Putrajaya Lake. The members of the Firm were, thereafter treated with a sumptuous international dinner.
There were many interesting performances from the associates, interns and pupils, staffs and celebrity performance by Deja Moss. Other highlights of the dinner were the poetry reading by our Senior Partner, Datoâ€™ Azmi, montage presentation, lucky draws, best dressed award and best employeesâ€™ award.

ISLAMICA 500 is a publication of the ISFIN (Islamic Finance Network), the first Whoâ€™s Who Guide in the Islamic Economy and serves as a guide for global leaders in the Islamic Economy.
This is a huge and humble honour for Ahmad Lutfi to be named as one of the most influential figures in the Islamic Economy arena alongside with H.E Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al Madani (the President of the Saudi Arabia Islamic Development Bank), Hamad Abdulmohsen Al-Marzouq (the Chairman of Kuwait Finance House) and also alongside other prominent local players in the Islamic Economy, such as Tan Sri Dr. Zeti Aziz (the Governor of Central Bank of Malaysia) and Dato Hj. Othman bin Mustapha (the Chairman of the Department of Islamic Advancement of Malaysia).
